ChatGPT for macOS requires Apple silicon. The screenshots below use Windows and CC Switch 4.0.15.

Set up Codex

In CC Switch, open Settings → App settings → Codex. This is the location in version 4.0.15.

Enable these three options:

  • Enable Keep official login when switching without takeover.
  • Enable Unify Codex session history.
  • Enable Compress Codex session history.

Compress Codex session history and the provider’s Enable remote compaction are separate settings. Enable both.

Disable official login retention and keep session history unified:

  • Disable Keep official login when switching without takeover.
  • Enable Unify Codex session history.

This screenshot uses an older version. In 4.0.15, find the same switches under Settings → App settings → Codex.

Already using Codex? Preserve your configuration

If you already use Codex, extract your existing configuration before changing providers. First-time users can skip this step.

  1. In the Codex provider list, edit your currently active provider, before importing Ritel SI.
  2. Open Edit common configuration, scroll down, choose Extract from editor and save.
  3. After importing Ritel SI below, edit the new provider, enable Apply common configuration and save.

Use the screenshot to locate the two common-configuration controls. Keep your own configuration values.

Sign in to ChatGPT

If your account avatar already appears in the lower-left corner, skip to importing the API provider.

  1. In CC Switch, open Codex → Direct, enable OpenAI Official and confirm it is active.
  2. Connect your proxy, open ChatGPT App and choose Continue to sign in.
  3. Sign in to your ChatGPT account in the browser. Complete the password or verification-code step. If asked, select your workspace and allow the browser to return to the app.
  4. Confirm the app opens Codex and shows your avatar in the lower-left corner. Then continue with API setup.

This step uses your ChatGPT account. The next step uses your separate Ritel SI API account. After signing in, switch the provider to Ritel SI.

Import from Ritel SI

Sign in at dash.ritel.si, then open API Keys.

Choose Import to CCS beside your API key. Allow the browser to open CC Switch, then confirm the import in CC Switch.

Sign in with your Ritel SI API account. Console: https://dash.ritel.si. Model API: https://api.ritel.si.

The import fills in the endpoint, API key and models. For manual setup, the OpenAI-compatible Base URL is https://api.ritel.si/v1. You can re-import an existing provider to update it.

Enable the imported provider

Open Codex → Direct in CC Switch. Find Ritel SI, choose Enable (the triangle button in newer versions) and confirm it is active. Older imports may be named Sub2API.

Switch from OpenAI Official to Ritel SI. The login-retention setting keeps your ChatGPT account signed in.

Existing Codex users: edit the new provider, enable Apply common configuration and save. Extract your existing settings first using the migration steps. First-time users can skip this.

Enable remote compaction

Edit the imported provider. In the config.toml area, check Enable remote compaction and Save. If it is already checked, leave it enabled.

Enable the option outlined in red. Keep your imported model, code and endpoint values. The 1M context-window option in blue is not required.

Quit and reopen the app

In the Windows system tray, right-click the ChatGPT icon and choose Exit, then reopen the app. Closing the window leaves the app running. Choose Codex from the mode menu in the upper-left corner.

Connect your proxy before reopening. Confirm your avatar appears in the lower-left corner and API models are available beside the message box. The recording shows 6.1 Sol.

Open Codex and check that the model list has updated. Send a message to confirm the connection.

Choose an available model and send a short message. A reply confirms the basic setup is complete.

Create images in your conversation

Describe the image in your current conversation, for example, “Create a photograph of a city street after rain.” No separate image model is needed.

For image generation with the API-only route, add the three settings below. Skip this section if you only need text conversations.

  1. In CC Switch, edit the active Ritel SI Codex provider.
  2. Find [model_providers.custom] and apply the settings below. Edit existing fields rather than adding duplicates.
requires_openai_auth = false
http_headers = { "x-openai-actor-authorization" = "local-image-extension" }
experimental_bearer_token = "YOUR_API_KEY"

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with the imported key from API Keys. Set requires_openai_auth to false. If experimental_bearer_token already exists, update its value.

If http_headers already exists, add this header alongside the existing headers. Save, choose Exit in the tray menu and reopen the app.

Then describe the image in your conversation. No separate image model is needed.

Troubleshooting

The app will not open after I signed in

Connect your proxy before each launch. Once the app opens, you can disconnect it and continue using the Ritel SI API.

The official sign-in page appears after switching

Enable Keep official login when switching without takeover, complete account sign-in, switch back to Ritel SI, then choose Exit and reopen.

Import to CCS does not open the app

Install and open CC Switch, then retry from API Keys. Allow the browser to open CC Switch.

The model list has not changed

Confirm Ritel SI is active under the Codex providers in CC Switch. Choose Exit in the ChatGPT tray menu, then reopen the app.

The API returns 401 or 404

Check that the API key is valid and the selected model is available. Confirm the provider is active and the app has been fully restarted. Re-import the provider if the endpoint was edited incorrectly.

Chinese interface, Computer Use or voice input is missing

These features require signing in to a ChatGPT account.
